Nail Prep: Use cuticle remover pen, push cuticles back with cuticle pusher, scrub with a brush and clear Dawn dish soap. Rinse very well, wipe down with the Nail Prep Cleanser, then [next step is optional] apply 2-3 coats of Strengthening Base.
Wrap Prep: Trim the wraps to match up perfectly to your cuticles. You can use the tape method if you are new but over time you will be able to eyeball it. My thumb is the only one that requires trimming – I just cut off the smallest amount from the rounded end to create a straight line across the wrap. Size the wrap to your nail so that you always leave about 1/16th of an inch of nail visable on either side. No one but you will ever see this and it gets an awesome water tight seal.
Application: BEFORE heating, set the wrap on top of your nail without pushing it down, THEN heat for 3 seconds (10 with metallics). Then with your thumb, starting in the middle of your nail, smooth and press down to one side, then from the middle again to the other side. Then rub really well with your thumb. Reheat for 3 more seconds, then gently pressed around the edges with the rubber tipped cuticle pusher. Not too much pressure. Do not overheat. That is the biggest culprit (other than invisible cuticles) to bad applications. Use a fine file at a 90% angle to file away the excess – which should just break away. Finish with a super fine glass file at a 45% angle to smooth out the ends.
